Valencia CF to face CD Castellón in the 2025/26 preseason
The match will take place on July 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Estadi Antonio Puchades in the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna
Valencia CF's 3-2 win against Villarreal CF was a first game in the dugout for new coach José Bordalás, who has been working with the players over the past two weeks. The new man in charge spoke to VCF Media after the friendly match in Oliva, and gave his assessment of what he saw from his side.
A first game
"We were eager to compete and to play a game. This was a difficult fixture -and always is- because Villarreal are a great side. Nevertheless, it was still a preparatory game for both teams, and the result is the least important thing. What we have to do is work well, in order to start the league season in the best possible condition."
A positive turnaround
"Their goals came from two unfortunate situations for us. They went ahead in the first half, even though we had a very good first period. It's a pity that we went into the break with the scoreline against us. At the start of the second half they scored again, and everything seemed very tough. The guys didn't give up, however, despite the fact that we were playing with a lot of youngsters and new arrivals. We turned the scoreline around and I'm happy for them, but it remains just a preseason game."
Working towards the start of the season
"I'm happy, because the players are working well. They are very motivated and adapting to what we want for the coming season. We still have players who are yet to come back, who are still on holiday, and we are keen to have them with us in the group and to keep working for the start of the season."
